Who We Are

This site is run by the Center for Pragmatic Buddhism, a Missouri nonprofit, on the Zenler course platform. "We" and "us" mean the Center. By using this site or enrolling in a course, you agree to these terms.

Using the Site

You may use this site and its courses for your own learning and practice. Please do not copy, sell, or republish course materials, or post them on other sites, without our written permission.

Course Materials

The lessons, recordings, practice cards, and other materials belong to the Center for Pragmatic Buddhism. You are welcome to print and keep the practice cards and other downloads for your own practice, and to share a link to the course with friends. Quotations from other authors and translators remain theirs.

Your Account

Please use your real name and an email address that reaches you, so teachers can reply to you. Keep your login to yourself. You are responsible for activity on your account.

Cost, Donations, and Refunds

Our courses, including Foundations of Pragmatic Buddhism, are free. Donations to the Center support its teaching and are not refundable, except that a donation made by mistake may be returned if you write to us within 30 days. If we offer a paid course in the future, its refund terms will appear on its page before you pay.

Community Guidelines

The community and the lesson discussions are shared with other students and with teachers in the Order. Please:

  • Speak to others with care and respect, including when you disagree.
  • Keep what others share about their lives and practice private.
  • Do not post advertising, spam, or anything harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit.

We may remove posts, or remove someone from the community, if these guidelines are broken.

Meditation and Your Health

The course teaches meditation and Buddhist practice. It is not medical, psychological, or mental-health care. Our teachers do not act as health professionals. If you have a physical or mental-health condition, talk with your doctor or therapist about starting a meditation practice. If a practice brings up distress that does not pass, stop that practice and contact a teacher or a health professional.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain what information we collect and how we use it.

Links to Other Sites

The course links to other sites, such as podcasts, readings, and our Meetup group. We are responsible for what we publish on those sites, including our podcast episodes and our Meetup listings. We do not control the rest of those sites or any other site we link to and are not responsible for their content.

No Warranties and Limits of Liability

We offer the site and courses as they are. We work to keep them accurate and available. We cannot promise they will be free of errors or always online. To the extent the law allows, the Center for Pragmatic Buddhism, its teachers, and its volunteers are not liable for indirect or consequential damages that arise from using the site or courses.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Using the site after an update means you accept the new terms.
